New House Paint Colors and Design Ideas :: 3 Shades of Gray

our paint colors gooddealmama.com

So I shared a house update the other day, and told you I would go over the thought process of each room.  Here is a room by room design ideas post.  I know that the grays seem very similar, and on the little design I made they do, but believe me once I put the samples up on the wall they each had their own look.

Here is our floor plan for the main level.  We are not going with a ginormous house with lots of wasted space. Instead this is just over 1500 square feet of very functional usable space.  We also have a complete walkout basement that will be finished to include a storage room, a “guest” bedroom, office for me, and a huge family room space.

agreeable gray

So because the living space is so open I will be using Agreeable Gray through out the living room, dining room, and kitchen. It will also be the hallways color, as well.   I think it will be the perfect neutral to go with my turquoise, creams, and browns that I will use through out the living space.

I like to think of my home decor style as rustic, industrial, modern farmhouse {is that a category?!}  So that will be the style of those spaces.

Agreeable Gray:

to me this gray is very light but “creamy” gray with just enough undertone of brown to make it a perfect “greige”. I wanted a light, airy color for our main living space with warmer tone, not cold.

We are using Sherwin Williams Versatile Gray in our master bedroom and main {hall} bathroom.  Our bedroom has lots of the same colors as the rest of the house. Creams, browns, and teals.

This is a bedroom with Sherwin Williams Versatile Gray on the walls, with moldings and carpet like we will have. Definitely a great color for our space!

Versatile Gray:

This gray is darker then Agreeable gray, has a much more “taupey” color to it with a hint of purple undertones.  For my master bedroom I wanted something darker, to bring more warmth to the room.

The Master bathroom actually doesn’t have that big window you see in the above floor plan, because we took it out because we added a breezway off the garage to the mudroom door.  So the window was pretty pointless. 🙁 It was a beautiful window and would have let in a ton of great light but I would rather be able to walk from my garage right into my house.  Because of the lack of windows I wanted a light playful color in the master bathroom and also the mudroom/laundry room. That’s why I chose Sherwin Williams Aquatint.

The last two colors are for our boys rooms. We have two boys and each of them will have a different “themed” room

Amazing Gray:

This gray is a medium gray with just a hint of green. It’s not too cool and not too warm. When I put the sample up to see if it would work for the main living space, I actually thought it would work perfect for my son’s industrial space.

Vintage Car, Industrial Styled room is being painted Amazing Gray. And will have accents of orange and pops of teal.  We are doing some fun stuff for this room that I can’t wait to share with you! Including using filing cabinets as dressers, lots of vintage goodies, and fun bed linens!

Kilim Beige:

I wanted a tried a true “khaki” color for my son’s vintage western themed room and the paint guy said this color was one of their best sellers of beige because there is no green or red undertones.

Our son’s Vintage Cowboy room is going to have some fun touches with a name rope sign, bandanna banner, with classic blues and reds.

And stay tuned as I get projects done for this house and can post them! I plan on posting at least these:

Diaper Boxes redo for toy storage, AND where how to store those boxes {On something you probably already have!}

Make your own curtain rods
