Melted Crayon Pumpkins How To

My best friend had this great idea for this craft! She thought our kiddos would love it and it would be a fun rainy day craft.  It was really fun to make these Melted Crayon Pumpkins with the kids, they really thought it was so cool!

What you Need:

  • Any pumpkin you would like, we choose smaller orange real pumpkins. You can use real or fake, orange or white. I think a white pumpkin would look so cool!
  • Crayons of your choice with wrappers removed.
  • Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
  • Blow Dryer
  • Floor Covering, we used pizza boxes from dinner that night 😉 but you could use newspaper or a trash bag

Instructions:

  1. Place your floor covering down on surface you will be working on gluing crayons to pumpkin
  2. Start gluing your crayons onto your pumpkin. {Adults did this step} melting crayons on pumpkin with blow dryer
  3. Start Melting the crayons with the blow dryer. High Heat will work faster but will spray the melted wax more, so be careful!

  • You will want to hold the blow dryer at a 45° angle to the pumpkin, not straight down, because it will help the wax melt onto the pumpkin more and splatter less.
  • I was thinking it may have worked better if we would have glued the crayons horizontally but I am not sure.
  • I do know that the more the kids “dried” the crayons the more they ran into one big mess :) So less is more at the end!
  • Some of our crayons were from my friends grandma and they didn’t want to melt properly.  They must have made crayons more indestructible back in the day 😉

However you choose to do this craft remember to have fun and BE SAFE!
