Mama Cooks: Cook Once Eat Twice!

 


Here is a new series on Good Deal Mama, called Mama Cooks, because I hate cooking the same things over and over again and love experimenting with different recipes. So when the mood hits you’ll see a new recipe from Mama Cooks :) Let me know if you like this!

This may not be a “new” or different recipe but I am all about making things easier in the kitchen and this does that!

Making Meatloaf and Mashed potatoes one night, and then turn the leftovers into shepherd’s pie for the next!

First Night: Make mashed potatoes like usual except make extra. Then make following meatloaf recipe, or use your own!

Mama’s Meatloaf

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground meat
  • 2 small cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup old fashion oats
  • 1 package Onion Soup mix

 

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients together except one can of tomato sauce
  2. Place in loaf pan and pour can of tomato sauce over top.
  3. Bake at 350° for one hour
After you are done eating, get a square dish, a 9×9 should work
Easy Shepherd’s Pie 
Ingredients
  • Leftover Meatloaf
  • Leftover Mashed potatoes
  • Veggies of your choice {peas, carrots, etc.}
Directions
  1. Place meatloaf on the bottom of the dish spread evenly
  2. Add veggies
  3. Top with mashed potatoes
  4. Bake until golden brown on top
  5. top with cheese if desired 😉
