Homemade Christmas Gift: Indoor Play Fort Kit

If your house is anything like mine, my children often tend to play with things that aren’t the latest, greatest HOTTEST toys out there. But usually they love playing with good ol’ stand bys: cars, blocks, boxes and “making forts”

As I am racking my brain trying to think of what to get my two boys, I thought of the things that they love to play with and have the most fun with. I started to think about how they love to make forts, but it usually drives me nuts because they pull out chairs, blankets, and they can’t really make it with out alot of help from me.

So I got this great idea to find a “Fort Making Kit”, which they do sell for around $25 over on Amazon, but realized I could go to the dollar store and thrift store and put one together myself for a lot less!

Here’s what I am thinking of buying:

small amount of thinner rope
3M Hooks for the walls
Clips
2 used sheets at thrift store
some glow sticks

And if I can find a little bag to put it all in {may have one around the house}

I don’t think my children would mind a “used” thrown together gift at all, and actually think they are going to love this and use it over and over again!

So what do you think?! Any other frugal gifts you are making this year? Please share!

  1. Love this! My boys spend hours playing in their pop-up tents and tunnels, and I know they’d love this as well. It’s awesome how sometimes the simplest things are the best!
